Every cutting board from Shed & Saw Crafts is handcrafted to last for years. With a little care, your board will stay beautiful and functional for a long time.
Cleaning
- Wash by hand with warm water and mild soap immediately after use.
- Never soak your board in water or put it in the dishwasher.
- Dry straight away with a towel and stand upright to air dry fully.
Disinfecting
- For a natural clean, wipe with a mixture of white vinegar & water.
- To remove odours, rub the surface with lemon and coarse salt, then rinse and dry.
Oiling
- Apply a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil (or board butter made with beeswax & oil) every 3–4 weeks, or whenever the board looks dry.
- Pour a little oil, spread with a soft cloth, and let it soak in overnight.
- Wipe off any excess before using.
Storage
- Keep in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
- Store upright when possible to allow air circulation on all sides.
Tips for Longevity
- Use one side for meat and the other for vegetables to reduce cross-contamination.
- Always use a sharp knife—dull blades cause deeper scratches.
- Avoid cutting directly on resin or decorative inlays to preserve the finish.
Refreshing the Surface
- If your board develops stains or knife marks, you can gently sand with fine grit sandpaper (220 grit works well).
- Re-oil afterwards to restore protection.
With these simple steps, your handcrafted cutting board will remain a trusted kitchen companion for years to come.
